Child safety
How MirthTale is designed to be safe for the child who uses it, in the story and in the room.
In the story
- MirthTale's AI writes and illustrates for the age on the dial. Younger settings never receive frightening endings, injuries, or unkind characters who win.
- The child's own words are kept, but MirthTale will not extend them into content unsuitable for the age. A four-year-old who says monster gets a monster who is mostly hungry.
- No advertising, no branded characters, no products in any story.
In the room
- The microphone is live only while the button is held and a light is on.
- The display is e-paper and goes dark after printing. It cannot be scrolled, tapped, or used to watch anything.
- Paper exits at a gentle speed with no exposed cutting edge. The spine seal is heat-free.
- Paper stock and inks are chosen to be safe if chewed. Full material declarations will ship with the device.
With data
MirthTale processes what a child says only to write and print a book. We do not build a profile of a child, do not train on children's voices, and do not keep stories longer than needed to print them. Our Privacy Policy describes this in detail, and a device-specific notice will be published before shipping.
What we ask of caregivers
Sit with your child while they use it. MirthTale is designed for a caregiver and a child together, not for a child alone. The button is easy to press; the conversation is the part only you can provide.
Reporting a concern
If a book contains something you think should not have been written, email safety@mirthtale.com with the title and age setting. We read every report and we change the writing rules when a report shows they need changing.
