How MirthTale works for children and caregivers with different needs, and where we still have work to do.
The device
- One large button with a raised edge and a light, usable without sight of the display.
- The age dial has a detent at every position and prints the current age on the cover.
- No screen reading is required at any point. The button, dial, and slot can all be used by touch alone.
The book
- Large-print settings on the caregiver page increase type size and page count without changing the story.
- A high-contrast picture style is available in every Story Pack.
- Braille covers are on our roadmap; we would like to hear from families who want them.
Children who don't yet speak
MirthTale listens for words, but a caregiver can speak for a child, repeat a sign, or describe a picture the child points to. The book is still the child's: their title, their name.
This website
We aim for WCAG 2.2 AA. Pages use semantic headings, visible focus states, sufficient contrast, and respect reduced-motion settings. If something on this site is hard to use, tell us at hello@mirthtale.com and we will fix it.
